Project Overview

This project was defined by one thing: a five day shutdown window. Four waterslides had to be restored, coordinated around multiple trades, and ready before Great Wolf Lodge reopened.

A Five Day Restoration Window

Great Wolf Lodge’s annual shutdown left very little room for delays. Our team was responsible for restoring four heavily worn waterslides within just five days. The slides had seen significant use and needed focused cosmetic and surface restoration, but the schedule meant every phase of the project had to be carefully planned and executed from the moment work began.

Multiple Trades Working at Once

Our crew was not working in an empty facility. Concrete, steel, welding, and other contractors were completing their own projects throughout the same shutdown. With multiple crews sharing the site and every contractor working toward the same reopening deadline, coordination was critical. Our team had to stay productive without interfering with the other work happening around us.

Three Restoration Processes, Four Slides

Each area of the slides required a different approach. Exterior runouts received new gelcoat work, slide exteriors were refinished with high solids marine grade paint, and the interiors were wet sanded and buffed to restore their finish. Despite the compressed schedule and busy jobsite, all four slides were completed one full day ahead of the five day deadline, delivering what the client described as a “night and day difference.”

Five days. Four waterslides. One day ahead of schedule. Here’s how we approached the project:

Exterior runout restoration: Gelcoat work was completed on the exterior runout sections to restore the finish and improve the overall appearance of the slides.

Marine grade exterior coating: The slide exteriors were refinished with a high solids, marine grade paint system designed to provide a durable, refreshed finish.

Interior surface restoration: Each slide interior was wet sanded and buffed to smooth the riding surface and bring back its polished appearance.

Coordinated worksite execution: Our team worked alongside multiple trades performing concrete, steel, and welding work, carefully coordinating our scope within an active shutdown environment.

Ahead of schedule completion: All four waterslides were completed one day early, delivering a dramatic night and day transformation while keeping Great Wolf Lodge on track for reopening.

The Result

All four waterslides were restored within the five day shutdown window and completed one full day ahead of schedule. The finished slides showed a dramatic night and day improvement across the exterior runouts, painted surfaces, and polished interiors.

Despite multiple contractors working throughout the property at the same time, our team stayed on schedule, completed the full waterslide scope without delaying reopening, and delivered a finished result the customer was happy with.
